Springsteen drives thousands of Portland fans into a frenzy

It was Boss Day in Portland on Tuesday.

Bruce Springsteen hit Powell's Books to sign 2,000 copies of his new book, "Born to Run," a memoir that's captured attention from all walks of the superstar's fan base.

Steve Bouler, a diehard Springsteen fan from Portland, was third in line this morning.

"He was so nice. We knew he would be. We were all thrilled," he said. "It was amazingly fun, but brief."

Powell’s is one of few independent bookstores that's hosting Springsteen.

"This event reflects our commitment to the community, as we host over 500 author events annually, a literary event nearly every day of the year," said Powell's spokesman Jeremy Garber.
